Aaron Burr Jr. (February 6, 1756 – September 14, 1836) was an American politician and lawyer. A Founding Father, he served as the third vice president of the United States during President Thomas Jefferson's first term from 1801 to 1805. His role in helping form the nation, however, would be overshadowed when he killed fellow Founding Father Alexander Hamilton in an 1804 duel. Stephen Fuller Austin (1793-1836), son of Moses Austin, was born on November 3, 1793, near his father's lead mines in Virginia. Educated in Kentucky, Stephen went to work in his father's business and served in the Missouri state legislature. Stephen and the family suffered a major financial set-back with the failure of the Bank of St. Louis, so he moved from Missouri to Arkansas to speculate in real estate and other business ventures. A Dutch contractor who established a colony in what is today Morehouse Parish. He did this at the suggestion of Gov. Carondelet. Bastrop built Point Plantation with large warehouses along Bayou Siard, La. Probably born in Holland in 1766. Bastrop was in Louisiana in 1795 and Texas by 1805, and settled in 1806 in San Antonio, from which he served as representative to the legislature of the Mexican state of Coahuila y Texas from 1824 until his death in 1827. He used his influence to help Moses Austin secure a land grant from the Mexican government on which to settle Mexican-Americans in Texas and aided Stephen F.
